DENR-11 foresters, GIS experts undergo UAV refresher training

DAVAO City, PH — Forty-five (45) foresters and GIS experts from the Environment department in Region 11 (DENR-11) participated in the two-day workshop on mapping and monitoring using remote-controlled unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or drone on March 26-27.

The participants, representing the different PENROs and CENROs of the five provinces of the Davao Region, discussed the advantages and challenges of this new technology to their work as well as the legal and cultural framework for drone usage in the Philippines. They also were given the chance to practice their flying and maneuvering skills during the training.

that was organized by the DENR-11 Enforcement Division.

 The technical training sessions focused on the utilization of UAV devices and the use of various software applications for flight planning as well as image processing.

Issues and concerns the participants have during previous trainings were re-discussed to check their progress and status. Those that were not addressed will be presented to the DENR-11 management.
