Movie for Peace Launched

The first Movie for Peace was officially launched at the breaking of dawn on November 26, 2016 in Guingona Park, Butuan City during the opening ceremony of the Mindanao Week of Peace.

The Movie for Peace is a project initiated by the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) Caraga to provide an opportunity in involving more stakeholders and social layers into the implementation of the Caraga Roadmap for Peace.

The process of producing films in line with the conflict lines of the roadmap such as criminality, insurgency, resource-based and Indigenous Peoples (IP) issues, will enhance the discussion of peace and sustainable development in Caraga.

Out of nine (9) entries, six (6) qualified for the Movie for Peace. Participating teams came from the different colleges and universities in Caraga Region. Prior to producing their films, a filmmaking workshop was conducted on October 21-23, 2016 at Mantangale Alibuag Dive Resort in Balingoan, Misamis Oriental facilitated by award-winning Davao City filmmaker Mr. Arnel “Arbi” Barbarona. Upon completing the filmmaking workshop, a cash grant worth P20,000 was provided to each team for the production  of their films.
